Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Review

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children Review

Jake Portman is an average teenage boy, working at his Saturday job, when he gets a call about his grandfather, Abe. But when Jake gets to his house, the house is ransacked, with the fence broken and Abe lying in the forest without his eyes. Jake then sees a large slenderman-like creature with tentacles spouting out its mouth, but then suddenly the beast disappears. Jake then has to go through 3 weeks of psychiatric sessions, with the end saying that Jake would have to visit an island of the coast of Wales, where his grandfather stay at a children's home for a while. Jake and his father travel to this island, search for the house, he sees that the house has been destroyed in a Nazi Luftwaffe Raid back in WWII. Jake later sees the Peculiar Children that Abe was talking about from his stories, Jake then turns to run, but falls and is knocked unconscious. The children then burn down the pub where Jake and his father were staying, and take him to a cave where the house has not been destroyed. Miss Peregrine, who then reveals herself to Jake says that the house is inside a Time Loop. At the end of each Time Loop, the Nazi Luftwaffe drops the bomb which destroys the house; then the day begins again. The children must stay at the house because the Peculiars are being hunted by Hollowgasts, the beast which Jake saw back at his grandfather's house.

Miss Peregrine reveals to Jake that the Hollowgasts are controlled by a shapeshifter named Mr. Barron, who hunts the Peculiar Children. The Hollowgasts can turn back into their human forms by eating the eyes of Peculiar Children. Later another Ymbryne (adult Peculiar), Miss Avocet, turns up and says that the Hollowgasts and Mr. Barron has found the house and are coming to eat the children. Mr. Barron takes Miss Peregrine to the Blackpool Time Loop; Miss Avocet and Jake have to fight off the Hollowgast, travel to the Blackpool Time Loop and defeat Mr. Barron, all before the time loop restarts otherwise the children will gain all their missed years and will die.

This movie was really cool and interesting, especially with the characters, CGI and stock animation with the skeletons and dolls. I really recommend this film to people, and to read the book as well. Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) was so great for this role and I loved the way she played the character, previously in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For". Abe Portman (Terence Stamp) previously playing Zod in "(1978) Superman" & "(1980) Superman II" and the Prophet of Truth in "Halo" though only having a small part, he was just perfect as a the grandfather. Jake Portman (Asa Butterfield) being in numerous films as a great child actor, I felt that the American accent was not needed but none the less still great. Emma Bloom (Ella Purnell) this lighter than air aerokinesis user was an upcoming brilliant actress, previously in "Maleficent". Mr. Barron (Samuel L. Jackson) was just so funny and great through the film, previously great in every film he has been in (Ignoring the Star Wars Pre-Sequel Films). Miss Avocet (Dame Judi Dench) only a small role but really well acted as well ways from this A-Star Actress. A really great film, a must see. 8.5/10.

Overall: I never read the books, but I really want to now!

Forza Horizon 3 - Warthog DLC Review

Forza Horizon 3 - Warthog DLC Review

Forza Horizon 3 has given back the Warthog from the Halo Series, original being in Forza Motorsport 4 as a Auto Vista Car only. Design to be the ultimate off-road vehicle, it is the iconic mode of transport for UNSC Marines to roam about in. This Warthog comes with the Minigun Turret on the back, unfortunately, but looks really sharp and drives really well. I am really happy they brought back the Warthog as a driveable vehicle, being a little bit disappointed last time it appeared in the Forza Series. And you get this beast for free if you have played either Halo 5: Guardians or Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Massive Off-Road Tyres, Giant Suspension Springs, 4-Point Steering and an Ultimate Amount of Power. The Warthog is perfect for bouncing and bounding across the rough terrain of Australia in the Jungles, Beaches and the Outback. This vehicle is perfect for the Danger Sign Jumps, loads of power and giant springs to give you an extra boost off the ramps.

Overall: Love the vehicle to bits, plus the performance is beastly. 10/10
Final thought: "Perfect for dodging hot plasma"

Rio 2016 Olympics Closing Ceremony

Rio 2016 Olympics Closing Ceremony
Image result for Olympic Mario 2020

So the 2016 Rio Olympics are over, and in tradition the home nation hands over the Olympics to the following country, with 2020 being Japan. With each country handover having a taster of what their opening ceremony has to offer, watching the short clip of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe turning into Super Mario, and using a Green Warp Pipe, with the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe appearing dressed as Mario, popping out of a Green Warp Pipe, with the notable Warp Pipe tune. This is a kinda funny nod to Nintendo, Mario and the gaming community of the world, showing that everyone else is coming to terms with the gaming community actually being a huge serious group of people from all over the globe.

And I know this only a short post, but they isn't really must to talk about it - it's a one small step for man and one giant leap for the gaming community.

Call of Duty: Ghosts - Extinction

Call of Duty: Ghosts's game type of Extinction is pretty much a knock-off version of Zombies. There a limited wave of aliens, of different types, which are trying to kill you. The aliens have planted a couple of hives around the map, which have to be destroyed with the drill to move on. There is giant hive at the end which you have to destroy, then plant a bomb and run back to the beginning and escape on a helicopter. There are weapons, ammo and attachments spread around the map for you to collect, but you must always have your pistol on you at all times. Completing challenges will give you an upgrade, this upgrades will help you reload faster, run faster, deal more damage, etc. There are four classes to choose from when starting the game; Weapon Specialist, Tank, Engineer and Medic.

Weapon Specialist:
Swap weapons faster.
Run faster.
Reload faster.
Faster ADS.
Bullets do more damage + less spread.

Tank:
Melee Attacks do more damage.
More Health.

Engineer:
Can repair the drill faster.
Earn money from traps.
Increase protection for the drill.
More damage done by traps and explosives.

Medic:
Move Faster.
Longer Sprint.
Immune to gas clouds.
Can revive teammates faster.

Relics can be found all over the map. Relics make the game a little harder on yourself, but get more money in game.

The aliens, or Cryptids, come in different types;
Scout - Normal basic alien.
Hunter - Slightly bigger and more powerful.
Scorpion - Super jumps, plus has a scorpion-like tail which can shoot poisonous liquids and gases.
Seeker - Small and fast, and will self-destruct when they get close.
Rhino - Large, armour-plated alien, with a charge ability.
Leper - Looks like a Hunter, but releases its Flare Ability, which lures Cryptids towards itself to form a small horde.
(There are more types in the DLC)

There are 9 achievements in Extinction (no including DLC), worth a collective of 195 Gamerscore.
No Man Left - 20 - Escape with all four players in Regular or Hardcore Difficulty.
Sprinter - 20 - Reach the exfil chopper with 1 minute and 30 seconds or more remaining on the clock in Regular or Hardcore difficulty.
Made it Out Alive - 20 - Escape 1st time in Regular or Hardcore Difficulty.
Completionist - 25 - Complete all Extinction Challenges and Escape.
Cabin Fever - 20 - Make it to the Cabin.
City Dweller - 20 - Make it to the City.
Any Means Necessary - 40 - Get 50 Kills with the Electric Fence and Fire Trap in a Single Game.
Trash Picker - 20 - Scavenger 40 Items in a Single Game.
Throttled Escape - 10 - Escape using a Relic.

This is game type is okay, I think it is fun for the first couple of games, but it loses it's fun-value quickly. Of course, I prefer Zombies. This game is better online, but can be a grind to get the upgrades that you want.

Bronze, Silver and Golden Age of Comics

The Bronze, Silver and Golden Age of Comics
Superman14.jpgShowcase4.JPGAmazingSpider-Man122.jpg

Now comics books are pretty much sorted into the three stages of comics, bronze age, silver age and the golden age.

Starting with the Golden Age, this was the beginning of many of the well-known superheroes and villains; Batman, Superman, Captain America. This is when comics where starting, sometime in the late 1930's during the beginning of World War II, most made to raise morale during the depressing times of the war. For example; the Captain America #1 shows Captain America punching Adolf Hitler in the face, if that isn't raising morale, I don't know what it. The Golden Age of Comics ended in the early 1950's.

The Silver Age of Comics began in the early 1950's and ended in 1970. Comics had to now follow the Comics Code Authority, which says that comics can't show disrespect toward policemen, judges or government officials, no sympathy must be shown towards wrong-doers, no excessive violence, no scenes of horror, no scenes of evil, etc. This meant most of the villains had to become less bad and more goofy, even the Joker.

Following, the Bronze Age of Comics began in 1970 to 1985, this is where the Comics Code Authority started to become ignored, leading with storylines which included racism, drugs, alcoholism and urban poverty. Stories became more dark, this is was a great chance to rewrite origin stories for characters, such as; Iron Man's alcoholism, Speedy's drug addiction and the death of Gwen Stacy.

Lastly, bringing up to date to today's comics, the Modern Age of Comics, beginning in 1985 to the present. This allowed most comics to have more psychological complex characters, betrayal and grim scenes of violence and horror. Origins and storylines became more dark and hate and sympathy was felt for both villains and heroes. More complex stories like Crisis on Infinite Earths occurred, this was so writers could, again, rewrite the backstory to superheroes, making them more dark and worthwhile to readers.

Ratchet & Clank Review

Ratchet & Clank Review

The evil Chairman Drek is using a planet destroying weapon, named the Deplanetizer to blow up planets, taking the best pieces of the planets and building a new planet. But in doing so he would be endangering millions of people's lives, The Galactic Ranger have noticed this and need a new recruit to join the ranks, a mechanic, named Ratchet, attempts to join but their the leader of the Galactic Rangers, Captain Qwark, says no. Meanwhile, Chairman Drek and his lieutenant Victor Von Ion, travel to a war-bot factory to gain new forces. But a defect is producing in manufacturing, no evil in him at all, too small and too harmless, Victor attempts to destroy him, but the defect is able to escape on an escape pod and land in the valley near where Ratchet is working. Ratchet goes to save the defect from the wreckage, naming him Clank. Chairman Drek's forces invade with Ratchet and Clank helping to defeat the enemy forces, becoming the people's hero. This displeases Captain Qwark as he has been shown up, but the media forces him to allow Ratchet and Clank to join the Galactic Rangers. To find information, the Galactic Rangers search the now abandoned war-bot factory, where Captain Qwark is met by Chairman Drek, where Drek encourages Qwark to join the dark side.

The Galactic Rangers then find out that Chairman Drek and Dr. Nefarious join together to destroy another planet, but the Rangers are too slow, with Captain Qwark going to join Drek. This is where Dr. Nefarious stabs Drek in the back, turning him into a sheep and taking control of the Deplanetizer. Going on to destroy a whole solar system for fun, but Captain Qwark has a change of heart, seeing how Ratchet and Clank risked their lives to save him, Qwark fights back Dr. Nefarious. Ratchet and Clank disarm the Deplanetizer and send it crashing to the planet surface, where Drek the Sheep has crash-landed. Captain Qwark begins his universe-wide sorry, and Ratchet goes back to be a mechanic. Ratchet hasn't quit from the Galactic Rangers, also side Clank, he will be ready for when the Galaxy needs their help.

I thought this film was a little slow in places, especially how I loved the Ratchet and Clank video games when I was going up. Ratchet (James Arnold Taylor) previously playing Ratchet in the "Ratchet & Clank Series", really good all rounds performance. Clank (David Kaye) once again, previously playing Clank in the "Ratchet & Clank Series", my favourite out of the duo. Chairman Drek (Paul Giamatti) previously acting as Rhino in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", also as Chairman Drek in the "(2016) Ratchet & Clank", just a funny and good character. Captain Qwark (Jim Ward) previously in hundreds of sometime Video Games, Animated Films and Anime Shows, including the "(2016) Ratchet & Clank", I have always loved Captain Qwark because he is so funny and ridiculous, and I think Jim Ward captured the character really well, once again. The critics probably won't like it because it is a Video Game Movie, but whatever; I didn't mind it, it wasn't my favourite. But it was pretty good over all. 6.5/10.

Overall: Pretty good, still love the series.
Final thought: "Choosing between certain death and probable death."

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - Exo Survival

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's game type of Exo Survival is pretty much like Modern Warfare's Spec Ops. Now you get a choice of one of four classes you play as while fighting off the enemy; Light Exo, Specialist Exo, Heavy Exo and Demolition Exo. There are 25 rounds, afterwards the map will be flipped and you must complete another 25 rounds.

Light Exo:
Low Health and Damage

The more points you earn, you can earn an orbital drop with a special scorestreak or perks which that class can't get usually.

In addition to surviving, there are Objective Rounds, this rounds will give you more points, but failing an objective will punish you; for example, disarming your exo skeleton.

Objective Rounds:
Defend Position - You must defend a specified position on the map and kill 12 enemies while in that position.
Defuse Bombs - You must defuse all three bombs around the map.
Gather Dog Tags - You must collect 20 Dog Tags scattered around the map.

There are 5 achievements in Exo Survival, worth a collective of 70 Gamerscore.

Class Warfare - 10 - Play 30 Minutes with each class online in Exo Survival.
Exo Flip - 10 - "Flip" a map.
Flip Flop - 30 - "Flip" a map twice.

I really like don't mind this game type, I prefer Zombies of course, and it's feels in some points worse and some points better than normal Spec Ops. The game type can be played by yourself or online, online is way better though.
