The Flash: Season Two Review

The Flash: Season Two Review

Episode One: The Man Who Saved Central City
Straight off the bat, we are reminded about the singularity which opened up above Central City at the end of Season One; which Barry Allen (The Flash) runs up a building and debris to run round the rim of the wormhole to make it close up. (In theory, it is possible) Anyways, Firestorm (Prof. Stein & Ronnie Raymond) fly into the eye of the wormhole and separate to defuse the wormhole, overloading it and making it collapse in on itself. Which works, as Prof. Stein and Ronnie fall, Barry is only able to save one of them, saving Prof. Stein.

6 Months Past. Barry says he has to work alone so keep everyone he loves safe. "Flash Day" is dawning, which is the day to thank the Flash and give him the key to the city, from the mayor. But a mysterious man comes to try and kill the Flash, being named Atom Smasher by Prof. Stein, the Flash is unable to stop Atom Smasher. Cisco and Joe use "The Boot", a weapon to keep meta-humans undercover, designed by Cisco fails, making Atom Smasher grows bigger and runs away to stop taking damage.  Which Team Flash (Iris West, Joe West, Cisco, Caitlin and Prof. Stein) are not happy about and plan to help him again. Team Flash and Barry notice that Atom Smasher, sucked up all the radiation in the area where Atom Smasher was, tracking Atom Smasher to a warehouse, where Barry tries to fight him alone, which doesn't end well - Atom Smasher nearing kills Barry, but runs away after Cisco was able to hack into the warehouse's alarm system, ringing all the alarms.

Barry realizes that he has to let Team Flash help him more. Later Barry calls Atom Smasher to his position using the Flash Signal, Cisco got the idea from some old comic... (Bat Signal - Batman). Barry makes Atom Smasher chase him to a nuclear power plant, and trapping Atom Smasher into the nuclear core. Atom Smasher is overloaded with too much radiation and is killed. Is his last words; he says "He promised me to take me home..." Barry confused, asking who, Atom Smasher with is last breath says "Zoom." When Barry got back to S.T.A.R. Labs, the team is met by Jay Garrick.

Episode Two: Flash of Two Worlds

So we start this episode with Jay Garrick saying he is the Flash of his world, but has lost his speed power. Introducing the theory of a multiverse/parallel worlds. Explain where the villain, Zoom, is actually from, saying that no-one really knows anything about him, apart from that Zoom wants to be the best so he kills other speedsters, making sure that he is the fastest and therefore the best. A new detective, Patty Spivot, is trying to convince Joe West to let her on the Anti-Meta-Human Task Force, but he keeps saying no. Later the Flash is called to a fire at a boat warehouse, where he meets a new villain Sand Demon, Flash can't fight back as Sand Demon is able to absorb the hits and trickle through Barry's fingers as he can turn into "Sand". We learn the name of Sand Demon is Edward Slick, which Joe arrests him, but Edward was out of Central City when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, meaning he couldn't have powers. So they release him, but 5 minutes later Edward comes back and attacks Joe with his Sand, kidnapping Patty. Learning that they are two Edward Slicks as of the multiverse, because Zoom sent him through a portal to Earth 1, from Earth 2.

In the mean time, Jay teaches Barry how to throw lightning - this is to kill Sand Demon with lightning. Because, of course, when sand is super heated to turns to glass. While Prof. Stein is working out the ability to find the wormholes, Cisco has a vibe so he knows where Patty is, in Woodrew Planting Warehouse, so Sand Demon can keep his sand particles moist. Both Flashes go to the warehouse, to distract Sand Demon with Jay, while Barry saves Patty. Barry throws lightning at Sand Demon, turning him into glass and making him shatter - killing him. Great nod to the "Flash of Two Worlds Comics" as both Flashes run to help up Patty. When Jay and Barry get back to S.T.A.R. Labs Prof. Stein has figured out a way to see where the wormholes have opened up, but Stein collapses for unexplained reasons.

Overall: Great way of introducing both Flashes into the TV Series. 8/10
Final thought: "Double Flash Team-Up."

Labs, so Jay decides to stabilize it so he can return to his home, on Earth-2. Also Lisa Snart (Golden Glider), sister of Leonard Snart (Captain Cold) needs Cisco's help. So the heist team dress up as cleaners, get pass the door guards and get to the key-pad locked door to the safe. Barry is able to use his super-speed to try every possible combination on the door, unlocking it. But Lewis turns round and shoot Barry in the chest, again using his super-speed, Barry catches the bullet and plays dead; fooling Lewis. As Lewis is stealing from the safe, Cisco sucks the explosive out of Lisa's neck and Barry confronts Lewis and Leonard as the Flash. Leonard kills Lewis with his Cold Gun for hurting Lisa. Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Jay has finish stabilizing the portal, naming it the Speed Cannon, but Prof. Stein suddenly flares up like Firestorm, then faints. After all that, when everyone has gone, the Speed Cannon fluxes and Harrison Wells jumps through the portal to Earth-1.

Desperately, Caitlin rushes to Jax's mechanic to ask for his help and to fuse with Prof. Stein, to become Firestorm. Dr. Hewitt attacks Jax and Caitlin, with Jax throwing a gear at Dr. Hewitt, so that Jax and Caitlin can escape back to S.T.A.R. Labs. From being scared by the Reverse-Flash, he knows that the Reverse-Flash is back, and he is kidnapping Professor McGee at Mercury Labs. When Barry gets back from failing to stop the Reverse-Flash, Harry explains to the Team how is possible that he is back, also explaining how Barry's mother's death is a fixed point in time; this is how Eobard Thawne can be alive, even though this distance grandson Eddie sacrificed himself at the end of Season One. Patty also comes to the conclusion that Barry is the Flash. Joe and Iris also see Francine as she doesn't have long left, but Francine says Wally hasn't been to see her in a while. Caitlin also thinks that if she finds Jay's Earth-1 doppelganger, she can trade cells to save Jay.

Cisco then vibes again, seeing Professor McGee being killed by Eobard Thawne; but noticing that that she is killed in the future. The Flash races over to Professor McGee, stops the Reverse-Flash and destroys the Tachyon Machine - which lets the Reverse-Flash go back to his time. From trapping the Reverse-Flash in the pipeline, will resulting in Cisco never getting his vibing abilities, so the Team has to figure out away to send Eobard back to the future. But the team realise that they can use the wormhole from the particle accelerator, with the Flash physically throwing the Reverse-Flash into the future. In doing so, Cisco is saved. Jay then tells Caitlin the reason why they can't find Jay's Earth-1 doppelganger, Earth-1 Jay is named Hunter Zoloman and not having the same life as Jay will result in him having different fluxions in his cells and DNA. Wally asks Iris to go see Francine with him.
