Supergirl: Season 1 Review

Supergirl: Season 1 Review

Being Earth-3, from Arrow's and Flash's Earth-1, Supergirl came out of hiding when she saw a passenger plane fall out of the sky, and saved the people on board from crashing into a bridge. Telling her friend Winn, they worked together to make her super suit and listened into police radio chatter to hear where crime was taking place. But working at CatCo, as Cat Grant's assistant and being Supergirl becomes a tall order. Later she finds out that her adopted sister Alex Danvers has been working for the DEO, a secret government Department the for Extra-Ordinary, with her boss secret being The Martian Manhunter in hiding. As evil aliens fight to destroy the people of the planet, Supergirl and her team need to defend Earth at all costs.

Another great CW Superhero show, this one having a "chick-flick" feel to it, but great non the less. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) previously being in Glee and at the theatre, Melissa I felt was a perfect choice for Supergirl, she has a friendly and love-able personality. Winn Schott Jr. (Jeremy Jordan) previously having small roles in various TV Shows, Jeremy's clumsy side-kick character was really well acted upon. Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) being in Grey's Anatomy, her character feels like the glue which holds this show together. James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) being Desperate Housewives for two years gave him the instant love figure for Supergirl to fall upon. Hank Henshaw/J'onn J'onzz (David Harewood) being many shows and films in the past, I really like David in this show, hiding his secret ultimate power away but trying to fit in as the father figure of the team. Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) being a lot of things previously, her character having a prickly cell with a large heart is a character I think is funny and bossy but really likeable. Once again, I am just really impressed with this CW Superhero Show.

Overall: Really great to see a Superheroine TV Show. 9/10
Final thought: "Being the cousin of Superman."

DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Season 1 Review

DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Season 1 Review

Being the spin-off show of Arrow and The Flash, a time traveller, Rip Hunter, beams down from his spaceship, the Wave-Rider, saving to some low-level villains and heroes that he needs their help and in return they will be remembered as legends. Needing the help of Hawkman, Hawkgirl, White Canary, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Atom and both parts of Firestorm. As they travel through space and time, the team gets to grip that they were not chosen to become heroes, more like they gave very little to the timeline, with the actually plan being to save Rip Hunter's family from the ruthless, immortal villain of Vandal Savage. The team is thinned out multiple times via some members either dying or being brainwashed, a small love triangle between Hawkgirl, Atom and Hawkman and funny reference to pop culture as they are on their travels.

This was a great spin-off season, with the ending leading us on to the next season later in the year. Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) previous playing Doctor Who companion Rory the Roman - his backstory and acting where gripping and heart-warming. Prof. Stein (Victor Garber) previously in Titanic, he was one half of Firestorm and his funny nerdy character perfectly acted out. Jefferson Jackson (Franz Drameh) being in Attack the Block and Edge of Tomorrow, both minor roles, this was his first big role, being the other half of Firestorm, his character was really well played off. Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) being a small time address, I really loved her character and her story within this series. Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) playing Superman in Superman Returns, everyone is entitled to a second chance, I thought Brandon suited the role of Atom much better. Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renee) mostly being in the theatre, Ciara's character of Hawkgirl was really well acted out. Carter Hall (Falk Hentschel) only been in a couple of things, but was good in this series, being a little too soft for Hawkman, but good non the less. Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) & Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) both being in the hit series Prison Break, where a great double act throughout the series, with Dominic being my favourite character in the whole season. Just hands down a great series.

Overall: Great spin-off series, can't find for Season 2. 9.5/10

X-Men: Apocalypse Review

X-Men: Apocalypse Review

Starting in Ancient Egypt, an all-powerful mutant reigned with his 4 horsemen of the apocalypse acting as his prime followers. It has come to the time of which Apocalypse needed a body, to reincarnate so that he could continue living, but as the action was about to be complete the servants tried to stop Apocalypse from reincarnating, but the original 4 horsemen of the apocalypse (Pestilence, Famine, Death and War) were successful but Apocalypse was laid to rest for thousands of years, until he was discovered by some Egyptian followers. CIA Agent Moira MacTarggert (from X-Men: First Class) infiltrated in the tomb to see Apocalypse to be reawaken. While this is happening, Erik Lehnsheer (Magneto), living low with a wife and daughter as a steel forger, also Angel is working as a Mutant Cage-Fighter, taking out the Blob as well as Nightcrawler, but Nightcrawler is saved by Mystique. Peter Maximoff (Quicksilver) also goes looking for his father, Magneto, but comes into contact with Prof. X and the school. Alex Summers (Havok) invited his brother Scott (Cyclops) to join the school as well as. The good mutants meet up and make friends, while Charles Xavier (Prof. X), Hank McCoy (Beast) and Alex Summers go to see Moira to get information on Apocalpyse. Getting back to the X-Mansion, Charles tries to find Apocalypse using the Cerebro Mutant Detector, but Apocalypse is able to get into Charles' mind and teleport him and his 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse to the X-Mansion, where Alex accidentally blows up the X-Mansion in attempt to stop Apocalypse, luckily Quicksilver rushes in and saves everyone from the blast apart from Alex as he was too close to the blast. Then is when Colonel Stryker shows up and kidnaps Prof. X, Beast, Quicksilver and Mystique, with Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and Cyclops sneaking on the helicopter and travel to Stryker's Base.

This is where Jean, Nightcrawler and Cyclops release Wolverine from the Weapon X Program and save the others. Apocalypse creates a new Ancient Egyptian Pyramid so that Apocalypse can transfer himself into Charles' body so he can use his mind. This is where X-Men have to fight back against Apocalypse and his four Horsemen to save the planet from being controlled by Apocalypse.

This movie I thought had a little bit too much hype for what the movie was. I loved all of the references and Easter eggs I could see. I really loved the new X-Men outfits at the end of the film, of how the suits refereed back to their suits in the comics. Absolutely loved Wolverine's Weapon X outfit, really felt like director Bryan Singer actually stuck to the material he was given. The Stan Lee Appearance was kinda like "Oh hey, Stan Lee. Cool." Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) playing Poe Dameron in Star Wars VII, I thought he was just okay for this role, but the make-up and suit really pulled his looks back. Psylocke (Olivia Munn), previously playing mostly small roles in films, but I really like how she presented the character. Storm (Alexandra Shipp), previously playing is small roles in films, but again I really like how Alexandra took this character and made it her own. Angel (Ben Hardy), this being his first ever film, being in Eastenders for 2 years, I was really impressed with his ability to control this character.

Overall: Was a little long-winded. 7/10

Forza Motorsport 6 - #66 Ford GT Le Mans Race Car

Forza Motorsport 6 - #66 Ford GT Le Mans Race Car

Once again, Forza Motorsport 6 has increased their car list, this time getting the #66 Ford GT Le Mans Race Car, which is the car racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 18th & 19th, 2016. Ford has entered this race for over 50 years now. The car maybe be based upon a original car which is already in the game (Ford GT & Ford GT40), but this model has been specially prepared and tuned to race in this ultimate performance and endurance race. The car has new a spoiler and splitter which work to together to create large amounts of down-force letting the car travel to its top speed, and corner even quicker. Using this car in the game, I really enjoy driving it. It handling ability is extremely quickly and the speed of the car is really impressive on the straights.

Overall: Free Great Racing Car. 10/10

Alice Through The Looking Glass Review

Alice Through The Looking Glass Review

Set several years after the events of the previous "Alice In Wonderland" film, Alice Kingsleigh has spent the last couple of years following her father's footsteps, sailing the high seas. When she returned, her ex-fiance, Hamish Ascot, has taken over her father's company and plans to sell the Kingsleigh family out of their home. This is where Alice gets distracted by Absolem, who has none turned into a Butterfly, following Absolem through a mirror to Wonderland. Being met by the White Queen, White Rabbit, the Tweedles, Cheshire Cat, etc - hearing from them that The Mad Hatter has come under some poor health and believes that his family is actually still alive. The White Queen comes up with the idea to set the Hatter back to happy is to go back in time and save his family, to so that Alice must go to the Time Palace and borrow the Chronosphere from Time himself.

Time says no to Alice, so Alice steals the Chronosphere and travels back in time, altering the past as she goes - which in turn damages Time. Alice goes to when Tarrant Hightopp is before the Mad Hatter - showing how The Red Queen's head never became queen, the White Queen was able to follow their father's royal footsteps. Eventually Alice learns that the Mad Hatter's family was never killed by the Jabberwocky, instead their were captured by the Red Queen, shrunk and made to work as pet ants trapped within an ant farm. Go back to the present in Wonderland, Tea Party Gang, charge into the Red Queen's Palace to save the Mad Hatter's family, just before Wonderland is destroyed by a giant infecting time paradox.

This film was a good to follow the predecessor. Mia Wasikowska returns to play Alice Kingsleigh once again a great Alice. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter - again, once again flawless I really loved Depp in these type of rolls. Helena Bonham Carter playing The Red Queen was absolutely perfect for this roll, loud, crazy and down right funny, previously playing Bellatrix in the Harry Potter Series. Sacha Baron Cohen playing Time Himself was spot on hilarious, known for playing the "out there characters" such as Ali G, Borat and King Julien in Madagascar. Various animated characters being played by famous faces; Stephen Fry (Qi) - Cheshire Cat, Michael Sheen (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) - White Rabbit, Timothy Spall (Harry Potter Series) - Bayard the Bloodhound, Barbara Windsor (Eastenders) - Mallymkun the Dormouse, Paul Whitehouse (The Fast Show) - Thackery Earwicket the March Hare and finally but no means least Alan Rickman (Harry Potter Series, Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, etc) - Absolem Being a Tim Burton, it was stunning to watch as usual, with Burton twists on characters, scenes and items. Being based on the timeless classic of Lewis Carroll.

Overall: Great film, but felt a like same-y from the film before. 7.5/10

The Flash: Season 2 Review

The Flash: Season 2 Review

Starting exactly after the end of Season 1, just after Barry Allen (The Flash) closed the giant wormhole to Earth-2, a parallel universe to the original Earth, being named Earth-1. This is where Barry has to defeat Central City against Earth-1 enemies, as well as Earth-2's equally as evil counterparts. Within episode one, Team Flash are introduced to a new character, a man going by the name of Jay Garrick (Hunter Zolomon, who is really Zoom) - "Jay" is the Flash of Earth-2, but has lost his speed, needing Barry's help. As the team progress, Harrison Wells' Earth-2 Counterpart, being named Harry also makes it across the breach, saying that the villain Zoom has kidnapped his daughter Jesse Quick, as needing Barry's help to stop him. Barry's life gets more and more complex with Iris' mother coming back, dying and leaving her son, Wally West to discover the West Family. Also Barry meets a nice girl, named Patty Spivot - which later leaves him for keeping the secret of him being the Flash from her. The team figure out that "Jay Garrick" is actually Hunter Zolomon, who is Zoom. Chaos occurs with vibrations of other universes, time jumps and crossover episodes with other CW Heroes.

Really great season, all most as good as the first Season. Gustin Grant - famous from being in Glee - playing Barry Allen/The Flash is once again brilliant, absolutely love his ability to portrait this version of the Flash. Tom Cavanagh - in some lesser known films and the TV series of Scrubs - playing Harrison "Harry" Wells is really epic, love his dark side to his characters. Candice Patton - from being minor characters in various shows - playing Iris West, the love story between her character and Gustin's was really well played off. Danielle Panabaker - being Piranha 3DD & Sky High - her nerdy but nervous character of Caitlin Snow and Earth-2's Killer Frost, was again really well played, being the glue who holds the team together. Jesse L. Martin - being in Law & Order - Law & Order and The Flash, both playing Police Detectives, being the foster father of Barry; his power and control of his character really came across the series. Carlos Valdes - with the CW Superhero shows being the only thing he has been in, he is the comic relief as well as the geek and nerd relief to the show. Bringing the series back down the science fiction world they live in.

Overall: Loved this from the behind of Season 1 10/10
Final thoughts: "Cisco is hands down the best character in all of the superhero franchise."
