Alice Through The Looking Glass Review

Set several years after the events of the previous "Alice In Wonderland" film, Alice Kingsleigh has spent the last couple of years following her father's footsteps, sailing the high seas. When she returned, her ex-fiance, Hamish Ascot, has taken over her father's company and plans to sell the Kingsleigh family out of their home. This is where Alice gets distracted by Absolem, who has none turned into a Butterfly, following Absolem through a mirror to Wonderland. Being met by the White Queen, White Rabbit, the Tweedles, Cheshire Cat, etc - hearing from them that The Mad Hatter has come under some poor health and believes that his family is actually still alive. The White Queen comes up with the idea to set the Hatter back to happy is to go back in time and save his family, to so that Alice must go to the Time Palace and borrow the Chronosphere from Time himself.

Time says no to Alice, so Alice steals the Chronosphere and travels back in time, altering the past as she goes - which in turn damages Time. Alice goes to when Tarrant Hightopp is before the Mad Hatter - showing how The Red Queen's head never became queen, the White Queen was able to follow their father's royal footsteps. Eventually Alice learns that the Mad Hatter's family was never killed by the Jabberwocky, instead their were captured by the Red Queen, shrunk and made to work as pet ants trapped within an ant farm. Go back to the present in Wonderland, Tea Party Gang, charge into the Red Queen's Palace to save the Mad Hatter's family, just before Wonderland is destroyed by a giant infecting time paradox.

This film was a good to follow the predecessor. Mia Wasikowska returns to play Alice Kingsleigh once again a great Alice. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter - again, once again flawless I really loved Depp in these type of rolls. Helena Bonham Carter playing The Red Queen was absolutely perfect for this roll, loud, crazy and down right funny, previously playing Bellatrix in the Harry Potter Series. Sacha Baron Cohen playing Time Himself was spot on hilarious, known for playing the "out there characters" such as Ali G, Borat and King Julien in Madagascar. Various animated characters being played by famous faces; Stephen Fry (Qi) - Cheshire Cat, Michael Sheen (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) - White Rabbit, Timothy Spall (Harry Potter Series) - Bayard the Bloodhound, Barbara Windsor (Eastenders) - Mallymkun the Dormouse, Paul Whitehouse (The Fast Show) - Thackery Earwicket the March Hare and finally but no means least Alan Rickman (Harry Potter Series, Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, etc) - Absolem Being a Tim Burton, it was stunning to watch as usual, with Burton twists on characters, scenes and items. Being based on the timeless classic of Lewis Carroll.

Overall: Great film, but felt a like same-y from the film before. 7.5/10
Final thought: "Time is not a thief, more of a gift."
