Star Trek Beyond Review
The USS Enterprise is three years into its five year journal into Deep Space, but they come arrive at Yorktown, to stop for supplied and to get off the ship for a little while. This is where Captain James Kirk is promoted to Vice Admiral and Spock receives word from New Vulcan that Ambassador Spock has passed away. They intended to tell each other but cannot find the time. Yorktown suddenly receives distress call from an alien, named Kalara, claiming that her ship is stranded on Altamid. The USS Enterprise races to assist the alien, but the USS Enterprise is attacked by a fleet of alien ships, destroyed the Enterprise and capturing never all the crew. The main crew are able to detaches the "disc" from the rest of the ship so that the main crew can abort moment before the ship crash-lands onto the planet's surface. The leader of the alien attacks, Krall, is able to take Nyota Uhura captive with Hikaru Sulu, Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy and Spock crash together by hijacking one of the alien ships, and Pavel Chekov and Captain Kirk land together, with the distressed alien. While Montgomery Scott, or usually called Scotty, uses a torpedo to land on the planet surface, but comes under attack by some savages, but he is saved by another alien who escape Krall when she was young, named Jaylah, whom now living in the downed USS Franklin starship.
Travelling back to the USS Enterprise to salvage what they can, Kalara turns on Kirk and Chekov, she is looking for an artefact, called the Abronath, which Krall can create to make a bio-weapon, which is plans to release into the Yorktown air vent. Flipping over the USS Enterprise Disc, killing Kalara, Kirk and Chekov come across Scotty and Jaylah. Chekov is able to get the transports back up and running, he is able to teleport Bones and Spock back to the USS Franklin. To save the crew, Kirk uses a motorcycle, that Jaylah salvaged from USS Franklin, plus some of the hologram devices and the crystal-making device, Chekov is able to teleport the crew back to the USS Franklin. Scotty and Jaylah are able to get the USS Franklin back up and running, flying after Krall. Uhura figures out that Krall is not who he says he is; Krall is actually an ex-Star Fleet Commander of the USS Franklin, named Captain Balthazar Edison. Captain Kirk has to intercept Commander Edison before he is able to kill everyone in Yorktown with his bio-weapon.
This film was stunning and brilliant, Simon Pegg's writing is once again excellently nerdy and funny as always. Captain James Kirk was played by Chris Pine, I really liked his acting his the film, too be fair there isn't many films I don't like him in, previously playing Rex Hanson in "Horrible Bosses 2". Zachary Quinto as Commander Spock was spot on, I was even heartfelt for the reference to Leonard Nimoy back as Spock in the original Stark Trek Films, previously in "Hitman: Agent 47". Karl Urban as Lieutenant Commander Leonard "Bones" McCoy was seriously, which turned out to funny in some places, previously in "RED". Zoe Saldana, playing Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, he acting was great but I thought a little more lines wouldn't have gone a miss from her, previously playing Gamora in MARVEL's "Guardians of the Galaxy". Simon Pegg, writer and Lieutenant Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott was just perfect, Simon Pegg is one of my favourite British Actors, starring alongside Nick Frost in his Sci-Fi Comedy Films of the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy. John Cho playing Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu has been really well fleshed out through out the trilogy of new Stark Trek films, previously being in "American Reunion". Anton Yelchin as Navigator Pavel Chekov who died recently on the June 19th 2016 - I felt was one of the best characters in the trilogy, previously being in "Terminator Salvation". Idris Elba a stunning all round actor, from serious stuff to comedy, he is just a great actor, playing Luther in the BBC Series; "Luther". Lastly but by no means lest, Sofia Boutella, playing Jaylah, I really, really liked this character I thought she had a great way of portraying the character, previously being in "Kingmans: The Secret Service". J. J. Abrams has done it again, can this man make a bad film? Absolutely stunning. No doubts a 10/10.
Overall: Great film, a different must see.
Final thought: "In the Memories of Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin."
