Ghostbusters (2016) Review

Ghostbusters (2016) Review

In the past, Dr. Erin Gilbert and Dr. Abby Yates wrote a book together about paranormal phenomenons like ghosts; their book was unpopular with Erin trying to block it out from her life and move on to be a university lecturer in physics, while Abby continued with her ghost believes at a college, with an engineer named Dr. Jillian Holtzmann. A ghost is sighted at an American tourist house, with the original mistress of the house comes back as a ghost and remains to haunt the house. A fellow lecturer of Erin's tell her and her friends to have a look at the house, which they do, and see the ghost. This prompts them to start up the "Department of the Metaphysical Examination", which is the office above the local Chinese restaurant. Needing a receptionist, Abby calls in a handsome but dim man named Kevin. Meanwhile, New York Subway Worker witnesses a ghost of an electrocuted prisoner on the subway lines, which prompts her to call the Ghost busting crew, and joins the team. The team are dubbed the Ghostbusters by Kevin, as he can't remember the real name of the business. In need of a vehicle to get to ghost sightings quicker, Patty borrows her uncle's hearse, dubbed it the Echo-1. Later they are called to a Heavy Metal Rock Concert, where they trap a demon-gargoyle like ghost. They evidence is dismissed by Homeland Security.

Using Ley Lines, the Ghostbusters figure out where the next ghost will be released - being at the Mercado Hotel in Times Square. The ghosts are being released by the janitor named Rowan, who kills himself to allow himself come back as a monstrous ghost. With Rowan taking control of Kevin's body, as well as the Ghostbusters' logo. The Ghostbusters are able to defeat the ghosts by exploding the Ecto-1's Nuclear Reactor, which causes a total protonic reversal vortex, setting everything back to normal.

This movie did not deserve all the hate it got before it was even released. I really liked this film, I especially liked to cameos of the characters from the previous films, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, Annie Pots, Slimer and even the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man. Even having a cameo of Ozzy Osbourne at the Heavy Metal Concert. Dr. Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) being in various comedy films, such as "The Heat", she was really funny as always and played her role really profoundly.  Dr. Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) was the character that everyone can compare with, being in comedy films in the past, like "Paul". Dr. Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) my joined favourite character of the film, was funny and I liked her crazy, mad scientist personality, previously being in the comedy sketch show "The Big Gay Sketch Show". Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) I found a little bit annoying at times, but funny at others, so - a mix I guess, previously being in the film "Trainwreck". Kevin Beckman (Chris Hemsworth) was the other half of my join favourite characters, just too funny for his own good. Famous for playing Thor, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The main badguy, Rowan North (Neil Casey) was an interesting character, I can't decide if I like him or not... previously being in very little TV shows and films of interest.

Overall: Didn't deserve the hate it got. 6.5/10
Final thought: "I ain't afraid of no ghost."
