Suicide Squad Review
After Superman's death, ARGUS operative Amanda Waller assembled Task Force X, a team of dangerous criminals who have been locked up in Belle Reve Penitentiary. Deadshot, Harley Quinn, El Diablo, Killer Croc and Captain Boomerang, as well as Slipknot, who are lead by Colonel Rick Flag, with her right-hand woman Katana. Rick Flag falls in love with an archaeologist named Dr. June Moore who discovers a cursed idol which turns her into Enchantress. Enchantress ends up releasing an army of undead monsters and summons her brother Incubus; which them both ending up tearing up Midway City. The team, named the Suicide Squad, are injected with a small explosive in the back of their necks to stop them running off, which Boomerang and Slipknot don't believe, which results in Slipknot's head being removed from his body. The Suicide Squad are given their old gear back to help stop Enchantress and Incubus, which the Joker gets word of, with him following the team and attempts to steal Harley Quinn back for himself. But the Joker's helicopter is shot down, with Harley Quinn thinking that Joker had been killed; which leaves the Suicide Squad hanging low, but they pick up their spirits and continue to move on.
As they get close to the building where Enchantress and Incubus are arming their global weapon, the Suicide Squad move into the floated underground railroad station, looking for the explosive that Rick Flag left there 3 days ago, while searching for Enchantress/Dr. June Moore. A small team of underwater Navy SEALs and Killer Croc go looking for the explosive while the rest of the team encounter Incubus and Enchantress. El Diablo is able to equal Incubus, with the Navy SEALs arming the explosive, killing Lieutenant GQ Edwards but also kills Incubus. The team work together to defeat Enchantress, who is able to be released from the curse, returning Dr. June Moore back to normal. After the battle against Enchantress, Amanda Waller tells the team that they have 10 years of each of their sentences, also allowing Deadshot to meet his daughter. Also Joker breaks into Belle Reve to save Harley Quinn.
This movie was awesome, one of the best DC films in a long time. Full of humour, psychical warfare and killing people for fun; sticking to the roots of the characters, with an endless list of Easter Eggs from the comics and other films. Having the backstory of the villains, with their encounters with Batman and the Flash. Deadshot (Will Smith) infamous in Hollywood, was once again excellent, funny and so profession. Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) previous being in "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Neighbours", she rendition of Harley Quinn was spot on, I especially look forward to a lead female villain DC film, starring her. Joker (Jared Leto), being in "Fight Club" in past, I am still not should if I love or hate Jared Leto's Joker. Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) being in "A Good Day to Die Hard", American playing an Australian character, but Jai did go to Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, so a small bit of Aussie in him, he was probably my favourite member of the Suicide Squad. El Diablo (Jay Hernandez) previous being in manly small time films, but I felt that Jay shadowed in this film but the Deadshot and Harley Quinn, I felt like he had a lot more to give to this film. Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) previously in "Game of Thrones" and "Concussion", I really like Adewale in this film as Killer Croc, the make-up was perfect for the film and the acting was spot on as well. Katana (Karen Fukuhara) this being her first ever film, Karen has being a name to remember in Hollywood, excellent acting for Katana, and sticking to the source material from the comics. Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) being in the "Robocop" remake, I really loved Joel's Rick Flag, heartfelt but a love-able rogue. Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) being in "Ender's Game", I didn't really like her, I preferred the CW's Amanda Waller. The soundtrack was excellent, rivalling the soundtrack of the "Guardians of the Galaxy". A must see epic comic book film, 8/10.
Overall: Stupid if you don't see it.
Final thought: "Crazy - the best are."
